The iconic hand block printing process begins with carving designs into wooden blocks by hand before being dipped in dye and printed onto the fabric. Throughout the printing process, the artisans pay meticulous attention to detail in order to ensure all motifs and colors are harmonized on the fabric. Each color pattern is stamped individually onto the fabric; the process takes time and skill, as the pattern must be stamped repeatedly across the fabric, one at a time.
